Celebrating a milestone | family celebrates 40 years of marriage
I’ve often mentioned the incredible honor it is that my occupation allows me to freeze important moments for the families and seniors in front of my camera. And when they are celebrating a major milestone or event, like a 40th wedding anniversary, well, I don’t take that lightly.
The sweetest couple you’ll ever meet
Marie and Rick are one of the sweetest couples you’ll meet. Talking with Marie feels like you’re talking with an old friend over a cup of hot cocoa; and sitting with them at their kitchen table, viewing their pictures together felt so easy and well, light. They have a joy and kindness about them that is contagious. I am so lucky I was able to capture family photos for them and their two sons and their families.
40 years looks good on them
With perfect weather and gorgeous yellow fall colors, I walked along a little path with Rick and Marie at one of my favorite Millard parks. It didn’t take long for them to warm up to the camera, and I think Rick secretly enjoyed the prompts I gave them to whisper in each other’s ears or kiss ;). Sometimes, they did this unprompted. 40 years looks so good on them.
A picture forever in my memory
After getting individual photos of each family, we got everyone together for one big group picture. For one of the poses, I had Rick and Marie face their kids and grandkids and told them to just take in the sight before them. 40 years of marriage, two kids, two daughters-in-law, and 4 grandkids later. That moment will forever be in my memory as I noticed Marie bring her hands to her face as emotions overwhelmed her. I took a few photographs and then gave her a hug.
