And baby makes three for Omaha family

So here’s the deal.  I’m starting this post right off the bat with this image, because everyone just needs to gush over those baby blue eyes for a few minutes.  And...go.

If that doesn’t given you baby fever, I don’t know what will.  This little guy was SO GOOD during our entire session.  Not much sleeping, but he was pretty chill most of the time.  His parents invited me to their home for a lifestyle newborn session so I got to spend the morning snuggling and getting my baby fix.  And mom and dad didn’t have to worry about packing up to travel to a studio or coordinating feedings, napping, bottles, diapers or changes of clothes (because newborns!). I call that a win-win for everybody.  One of the great benefits of this type of session - all in the comfort of your own home.

But what if my home is messy?  I get it.  I have three kids of my own and having a clean home with kids is like trying to brush your teeth while eating Oreo cookies.  But, with the right angles, I can compose shots in a way that eliminates clutter, and I have no problem moving an item just outside of the camera frame to get a clean shot. Sometimes it’s just a matter of a few inches!  For this couple, I MAY have rearranged a few furniture pieces in their living room, too.  But it was all put back when I was done, and i think making a few changes made all the difference for some of these shots!

See how I moved the chair into the frame for the image on the right? It’s not there in the image on the left.

What if my house is dark?  Another question I get a lot.  Honestly, I’ve shot in just about every kind of lighting.  I’ve had an in home session in the middle of winter on a cloudy, overcast day with not much light.  I also lighting that I bring with me, just in case.  When we begin a session, I will take a short tour of your home and see where the best light is.  And really, all I need is one window to make things work! Even low light situations can make some really beautiful images. The shot below was taken in the couple’s bedroom, with the light of just one window.  I can hear Tim Gunn now, “Make it work.”  And I do!

I make it all work, so that you don’t have to worry or stress. All that I require of you is to relax, soak it all in, and enjoy this time - because as cliche as it sounds, it goes by in the blink of an eye. And it’s my goal that you’ll have beautiful images and artwork from our session together to remember it all. This couple chose a timeless, black 10x10 photo book as well as some loose prints from their session. In no time at all, this little guy will be flipping through his book, asking his parents to tell him stories about when he was a baby.
